QOTW: What Impact Does Time Spent Working Abroad Have On Your Eligibility For PR in Hong Kong
Posted in Employment Visas, Long Stay & PR, The Hong Kong Visa Geeza, Your Question Answered /
Pleased to have an opportunity to once again address this question which comes up quite often in a variety of different guises…
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
My daughter is employed in my company and has been for the past 3 years +.
She recently received approval for an extension of her employment visa of 2 years.
As a company we would like to send her overseas to work, but she would like to continue to build up her time to eventually be eligible for PR in Hong Kong.
She would come back to Hong Kong regularly, for consultations etc but in aggregate not a very long time.
I and my wife are PR’s here in HK and have been for about 10 years now.
My question is: how long does she need to spend here to keep up her eligibility for PR in Hong Kong, even though she is overseas on this assignment?
She has been a full-time employee, has a bank account, and has been paying tax etc, and has all records of that up to date.
She rents an apartment too, but that would need to lapse once she is away on this assignment. She could use our address here if required.
